Diann's Happy Tails Obedience Training
It Should Be Fun!
If it ain't Fun...
Training your dog should be fun for both of you. If it isn't, your dog will not want to be a part of it, you will get frustrated with your dog. Training will stop.
So Make it Fun
To make training fun, use what your dog loves the most. It may be treats, walks, playing ball, swimming, walking with you, car rides. Be creative and watch your dog to know when he is the happiest. Have your dog things for you before you do what he likes. A simple sit is the best place to start. All dogs can learn to sit fairly quickly. Make the sit something your dog must do first. This is his way of asking "Please" Reward the good manners with the good thing your dog wants.
Step by Step
You can gradually advance to down stays, longer sit stays and advanced commands to give your dog a challenge. Always reward with every day real life rewards. This is a fun and very rewarding way to train for both of you. Your dog quickly learns god manners get good things, you will enjoy having a well behaved dog, and both of you will be happier.
